John D. Joyner is an English former professional rugby league footballer of the 1970s, '80s and '90s, and coach of the 1990s who at representative level has played for Great Britain, England, and Yorkshire, and at club level for Castleford, playing at Centre, Stand-off/Five-eighth, or Loose forward/Lock, i.e. number 3 or 5, 6, or 13, and at club level has coached for Castleford.

John Joyner won caps for England while at Castleford in 1980 against Wales, and France, in 1981 against France, and Wales, and won caps for Great Britain while at Castleford in 1978 against Australia (2 matches), in 1979 against Australia (3 matches), and New Zealand (3 matches), in 1980 against New Zealand (3 matches), in 1983 against France (2 matches), and in 1984 against France, and New Zealand (sub) (3 matches).[1]
In addition to the above Test Matches, John Joyner played Centre, i.e. number 3 in Great Britain’s 7-8 defeat to France in the friendly at Stadio Pierluigi Penzo, Venice on 31 July 1982.
John Joyner played Stand-off/Five-eighth, i.e. number 6, and was captain in Castleford’s 15-14 victory over Hull Kingston Rovers in the 1986 Challenge Cup final at Wembley Stadium on 3 May 1986.[2]
